Youth Pathways

Support for young people during adolescence, when identity, self-belief, emotional growth, and future direction are being shaped.

Overview

What our youth pathways do

Camino's youth pathways support young people during adolescence, when identity, self-belief, emotional growth, and future direction are being shaped. Through mentorship, workshops, experiential learning, and community-building opportunities, youth gain the tools they need to thrive in school, in relationships, in leadership, and in life.

Our pathways are designed to help young people feel seen, supported, and encouraged while building the practical and emotional skills that prepare them for adulthood.

Pathways

Youth Pathways

Each Pathway addresses a core area of youth development. Together, they give young people a complete foundation for life.

  • Pathway 1

    Elevate You After School Pathway

After-school programming that runs 2 hours per week for 3 quarters (fall, winter, spring), every Wednesday: 39 sessions over 9 months for low-income youth in Dutchess County at Pawling Elementary School.

Through consistent weekly sessions, young people build academic support, mentorship connections, and a sense of belonging in a safe, structured after-school environment.

  • Pathway 2

High School and Beyond Advisory Pathway

A comprehensive advisory program guiding low-income high school students through the critical transition from high school to higher education, vocational training, or career pathways.

Students receive financial aid application support, college essay guidance, 1-on-1 mentorship, group sessions, and career goal planning to prepare for life after graduation.

  • Pathway 3

Lead With Your Heart Workforce Pathway

In collaboration with the Youth Employment Program (YEP), funded through the Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board (DCWIB), this initiative provides meaningful paid work experiences for youth residents of Dutchess County.

Youth build transferable skills for long-term success through resume building, real-world experience, confidence, and independence, preparing them for meaningful careers.

Connection

Why family supports matter to youth success

Young people are more likely to engage and thrive when their families have stability, food access, trusted guidance, and culturally responsive support. That is why Camino pairs youth development with family-facing services that reduce barriers and strengthen the home environment. Our youth pathways are strongest when families are supported too.

How our pathways work

  • Consistent weekly contact

Students meet regularly with facilitators and mentors during the school year.

  • Skills that transfer

Emotional intelligence, money skills, and college readiness taught in plain, practical terms.

  • Bilingual and family-aware

Families are kept informed in the language they use at home.
